Safety
Sell to strangers, safely.
Meeting up
- Meet in a busy public place with cameras. Many police stations have a marked exchange zone.
- For big furniture at home: have someone with you, keep the item by the door or in the garage, and don't share your address until you've agreed a time.
- Bring a friend, or tell someone where you're going and when you'll be back.
- Buyers: inspect it, test it, then pay. Cash in person, or pay through Sales Fast when the seller has card payouts on.
Scam warnings
- Overpayment. "I'll send extra, refund the difference." Always a scam.
- Verification codes. Nobody legitimate needs the code texted to you. Sharing it hands over your account.
- Gift cards, wires, crypto, "friends and family" payments. They can't be reversed. That's why scammers ask.
- Moving the chat. "Text me on WhatsApp." Stay in Sales Fast messages; we flag these patterns on incoming messages.
- Shipping agents. "My mover will pick it up and I'll pay by check." Common fake-check scam.
Prohibited items
The common ground of Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, OfferUp and Nextdoor rules, plus U.S. CPSC recalls. Listings that match are blocked when you publish.
Also: used mattresses and personal-care items are hard to sell legally in some states; vehicles need a title in your name.
Photos of your home
- The item finder runs on your phone. Your room photo isn't uploaded; only the item crops you publish are.
- People are pixelated automatically. Use "Pixelate a spot" for house numbers, mail, documents, family photos and anything with a name on it.
- Location data (EXIF and GPS) is removed on your phone and again on our server.
- Public listings show the pickup area you type, never an address. Phone numbers, emails and street addresses are blocked from listings.
- Photo AI is optional. It runs on our own hardware when that's online. Otherwise you're asked first before one crop goes to a cloud AI (Anthropic).
Why we never auto-post to Facebook, Craigslist or OfferUp
Those sites don't offer a posting API and their terms ban bots and auto-posters. Accounts get banned for using them. Sales Fast gives you a share pack instead: copy sized to their limits, photos at their specs, and a button to their own create-listing page. eBay, Etsy and Shopify have official APIs, so those can post directly once you connect them.
